A growth plan for MJS Plumbing

What we would do first, why, and what it costs to find out. Built off a real look at the Karratha plumbing market, not a generic template.

A quick note before you read this

Hey Mitch,

Thanks for the chat. Good to hear you're a friend of Mitch Bristow's.

I've put together a plan below and tried to keep it simple. I hope it helps. Give me a call if anything doesn't make sense.

Where you're starting from

A real business with proof, and a blank slate online

The reputation is already there

MJS Plumbing has been running for about ten years, worked around a 4-on/4-off roster the whole way through. You've already been asking family, friends and past clients for Google reviews, and you're sitting on 11 five-star ones because of it. Most trades never bother doing that. Once the automations are live, part of the job is keeping that number climbing after every job.

No website, no ads, no funnel

We checked. There's no live MJS Plumbing website and nothing running in ads right now. That's not a bad thing. It means whatever we build doesn't have to compete with anything half-finished.

Services to lead with

Outdoor showers, water filtration systems, and emergency callouts (mostly burst pipes). These are specific enough to build a landing page and ad angle around, instead of a generic "plumber in Karratha" pitch.

The decision on the table

Two ways to start

You asked about both on our call, so here's how they compare, not just the one I'd pick. Both are legitimate. They just move at different speeds and cost different amounts to get there.

The other option

Google Ads first, slower and steadier

Every click on Google is someone already typing "plumber" because they need one right now. Higher intent per click, but Karratha's own search volume for plumbing terms is small (see below), so this path gets you a handful of solid, ready-to-book leads a month rather than the volume needed to hit $50k.

  • Lower risk per dollar, easier to keep tight
  • Good fit if you'd rather ease back in than go hard straight away
  • A real long-term layer either way, once there's brand demand from Meta to capture
Where I'd lean: if the goal is $10-20k a month scaling toward $50k, Meta needs to lead. Google alone can't get you there in Karratha on search volume this thin. We don't have to pick one forever though, and we start small either way to prove the cost per lead before we spend more.
The real numbers

What people in Karratha actually search for

Pulled from Ahrefs. This is the whole reason Meta matters here: Karratha is a small town, and plumbing-specific search volume is thin.

Source: Ahrefs Keywords Explorer, Australia, pulled 25 August 2026. CPC converted to AUD from Ahrefs' USD figures at approximately 1 USD to 1.40 AUD, for reference only, not a guaranteed price. Karratha-specific plumbing search volume across every term checked (emergency, outdoor shower, water filtration, gas fitting, burst pipe) came back too low to report individually.

The competitive picture

Who else is already in Karratha

Seven plumbers with a public presence in Karratha right now. Most run on a Facebook page only, two have their own website. I haven't checked who's actually spending on ads yet. That needs Facebook Ad Library access, which I'll run before we go live.

Source: public web search, 25 August 2026. Confirms MJS has no live website or ad presence to compete against right now. The market isn't empty, but no one's built a proper funnel yet.

What we'd build first

A landing page that actually looks like MJS Plumbing

Not the homepage of a big website. One page, built to turn an ad click into a phone call or a form. Rough shape below. Real photos, your reviews, and your actual services once we start.

The lead form

Starting simple, on purpose

We're deliberately not asking for much at the start. Every extra field on a form loses you leads. This is the v1 field list:

The form connects to GoHighLevel, which texts the lead straight to your phone. You call them back, that's the whole loop. Once we've got a month of real leads through it, we can add a booking calendar so a lead can pick a time slot themselves. Worth doing later, not on day one.

Setting a real target

What a test budget actually buys

A worked example, not a promise. This shows how the numbers work, using the CPC figures above.

$30/day test budget

About $900/month. At the national average cost per click for high-intent terms like "emergency plumber near me" (roughly $10-13), that's around 3-4 clicks a day if run on Google Search alone in a market with normal search volume.

The catch for Karratha specifically: local search volume for plumbing terms is so thin (see the keyword table) that a Google-only budget this size may not even spend out some days. There just aren't enough people searching. This is the practical case for Meta doing the heavy lifting on volume, with Google catching the ready-to-buy searches on top.

The target we'd set

Cost per enquiry (form fill or call): $50-70, based on trade industry norms and what we've verified on a comparable client account. Not a guarantee. It becomes a real, defensible number once tracking is live and we have a month of actual leads to check it against.

What's included

How it fits together

  1. Landing page. One page built around your reviews, your services and the form above. Hosted so it's ready for ad traffic from day one.
  2. GoHighLevel automation. Every form submission texts your phone within minutes, the same pattern we run for our other trade clients.
  3. Campaign build. An Emergency campaign, a Branded campaign (small budget, just to protect the MJS Plumbing name in search, since there's already another business trading under a similar name), and the Meta content angles for outdoor showers, filtration and emergency call-outs.
  4. Weekly check on cost per lead. The number that decides whether we scale, hold, or adjust. Nothing changes on your account without you seeing it first.
Next steps

If you're happy to proceed

  1. Let me know you're keen to move ahead. Reply to this or give me a call.
  2. I'll send over the engagement letter, pricing included.
  3. Once it's signed, we get started. A domain (mjsplumbing.com.au is already taken, so likely something like mjsplumbingwa.com.au), your own Google Ads account, and manager access to your Google Business Profile. We'll also be in touch for photos and video for the page.

Ready when you are

Have a read, sit with the two paths, and let me know if you're happy to proceed.
